Friday nights, everyone’s favorite time of the school year! The 24-25 football season officially began on August 23, 2024. Football games also mean watching many talented teams perform their hearts out on the field. Every year we see Cheer and Pom, Sapphire, and Band perform during halftime. At this year’s first football game we had three different teams performing.
First to perform was Cheer and Pom, they performed the song “Enter Sandman” by Metallica, which was choreographed by their coaches, Kendall Lopez and Lauren Gaspar. The cheerleaders did amazing performing their first halftime show of the season. The cheerleaders showed off all their hard work they did over the summer. Varsity Pommie Bethany Romo said “Performing at the football game was so much fun but nerve-racking all at the same time, but I loved every minute of it. I can’t wait to perform again!” Their dance highlighted many different skills such as kicks, stunts, and tumbling!
Next to perform was Band, who performed a part of their competition routine! The band constantly moved into different formations while playing their instruments. It took focus and skill to move and play the instruments simultaneously.
Last to perform was the Sapphire dance team. For their performance Sapphire did a mini dance camp, where little kids got to learn and dance with Sapphire for the halftime show. They danced to the song “CAN’T STOP THE FEELING!” by Justin Timerblake. Sapphire did a fantastic job, even when faced with some technical difficulties! Every age group got to dance to a small part of the song, choreographed by each Sapphire captain; Landon Gaspar, Karen Cervantes, and J. Seidenberg. The crowd was in awe of the children dancing, many parents were recording the unforgettable moment.
Like every other year, we were blown away by every team! Each team showed how much time and work they put into their performances. Great work Braves!
