“The only reason a warrior is alive is to fight, and the only reason a warrior fights is to win.” That quote was said by one of my idols, Miyamoto Musashi.
In school, a new team is starting up, and no it is not a badminton team. It’s an Esports team, Now, what is Esports? Well, I asked the man who started the Esports team, and I’m going to tell you what he said.
“Esports, short for electronic sports, refers to organized video gaming competitions. These competitions can range from local school tournaments to professional events with large audiences and substantial prize pools. Esports involves multiplayer video games across a variety of genres, including first-person shooters, real-time strategy games, and multiplayer online battle arenas. Professional esports players often compete individually or as part of a team, and the matches are typically live-streamed for viewers to watch online. The popularity of Esports has grown significantly in recent years, with dedicated fans, professional leagues, and lucrative sponsorship deals.”
Now, if you are interested feel free to ask Gary Dimitratos at classroom B7 to join the team.
I also asked him what Esports would do for LHS. This is what he said,
“Esports can offer several benefits to schools, including 1. Fostering teamwork and collaboration: Esports requires players to work together to achieve a common goal, which can help develop teamwork and collaboration skills. 2. Promoting STEM education: Esports can pique students’ interest in technology, as they often involve gaming, coding, and hardware components. 3. Providing opportunities for scholarships: Many colleges and universities are now offering esports scholarships, providing students with another avenue to pursue higher education. 4. Building a sense of community: Esports can help create a sense of belonging and community within the school, bringing together students with common interests. 5. Developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills: Competitive gaming requires strategic thinking and quick decision-making, which can help students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Overall, integrating Esports into schools can provide opportunities for further education and career pathways.”
And I think you should join Esports because Esports can help students receive a range of benefits, from fostering teamwork and collaboration to various vital skills, including critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, communication, leadership, digital literacy, and engagement. And I think it could be fun. So if you want to join LHS Esports, go to classroom B7, and talk to Gary Dimitratos.
