On March 14 2025, Lompoc High School had a swim meet against Santa Ynez. Swimmer Gabriela Huizar got a consideration time. In high school swimming, consideration time refers to the time standards that swimmers must equal or better in sanctioned dual, triangular, or invitational swim meets to qualify for the CIF Southern Section Swimming Championships.
I had the opportunity to interview Gabriela and she said “It felt pretty good dropping for 2 seconds, especially since it really came out of nowhere. Seeing my time on the board felt pretty good knowing that we took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in that event.” Gabriela swam in the 200 freestyle, 100 freestyle, along with the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay.
