Previously in a small town named Lompoc, California, there have been several things going on here and there. One of the biggest, and most recent things going on in Lompoc is the closing of their local Vons. Those who live in Lompoc have taken it as a complete shock considering that a lot of people enjoy shopping there and because it is closer to many homes. One major thing the store has is their pharmacy. Many customers are angry that they will have to transfer to different locations. As well as the Lompoc highschool students not being able to go during lunch to the nearest grocery store. It had a lot in store for us like ”Starbucks” and also somewhere to grab a quick meal. Now we shall see what new things will be brought to us. As well as having to get used to this new change.
Another shocking piece of news is that Lompoc has officially opened the biggest Park in Santa Barbara county named “Beattie Park”. As many can imagine, it is a very exciting opening because not only is it a playground for kids to go to but, it is also a workout area for teens and older people. This park contains many capable activities and that is such a relief because people won’t get bored of it. It is a new way for people to get out of their homes and still remain safe.
Thursday, March 4 about 400 educators, meaning teachers and staff members, have officially gotten the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in Santa Barbara County. These educators went all the way to the Lompoc Valley Medical Center to receive their vaccine. Teachers are now starting to prepare themselves to go face to face with their staff workers and most importantly their students. As they were waiting patiently to receive the calls for the opening of the schools, Lompoc Unified School District announced that schools should be opening starting Monday, March 8th.
Something I believe is that the students from Lompoc High School who were most affected were the seniors. Why, you may ask? Well, it’s because they won’t have a senior year to talk about. They didn’t get to do the final fun high school activities. It’s a very sad thing to think about because in all honesty when these teens become parents, they won’t be able to tell their children or families how fun their senior year was or what to expect. I think everyone would’ve loved to be back to school by now, but at the end of the day it is for everyone’s safety.
