Hey Hey Hey FFA!

FFA stands for Future Farmers of America, it was founded by young farmers in 1928. It was created to prepare future generations for agriculture challenges. It was a foundation first run by men and in 1969 women were admitted. An organization that gives those with an interest in agriculture and leadership, essential skills. It’s a science, It’s a business, and it’s an art.

In an interview, Ms. Flaherty was asked a series of questions, and here are some of the answers she gave. FFA was founded in the year of 1950. Describing FFA in 2 words, she expressed it as ‘new experiences”. There are multiple experiences that you get with being part of FFA. Things such as leadership conferences, activities, field days, competitions in over 70 areas of Ag, public speaking and a ton of fun. In order to be part of  FFA you need to be enrolled in an Agriculture class. This program is one of the many that is highly credited at Lompoc High. They host monthly meetings for not only members, but our community that is looking to have some fun. FFA is always hosting spirit weeks, lunch time activities, and more to keep the students at LHS involved.
