Book Review – “The Cousins”, by Karen M. McManus

In the book “The Cousins’ by Karen M McManus, we follow Milly, Aubrey, and Jonah Story who are– as the title suggests– cousins. But, they barely know each other and they’ve never met their grandmother whose rich and owns her own island. Their parents were disinherited with no explanation. All they received was a letter from the grandmother’s lawyer saying “you know what you did”. Though, their parents claim to not know what she’s talking about. Throughout the book, the three teenagers attempt to figure out the reason their parents were disinherited.

I personally really enjoy mystery books and I loved this one. This book has many really unexpected plot twists. Each chapter is a cousin’s point of view and sometimes the chapters go back in time. It keeps you interested and constantly making theories about why the parents were disinherited. With each chapter, you learn something new about the characters. I couldn’t put it down. I managed to finish it in just a week! For someone who doesn’t enjoy reading so much, I think it’s impressive. I would definitely recommend it to anyone that enjoys mystery and thriller books.
